Owners Doug Smith and Sean Concannon opened Westcafe late July 2006 and created a beacon of hospitality in an up and coming neighborhood nestled between Portland State University and the Cultural District. Area businesses immediately welcomed the comfortable get-away from their offices for lunch and small business meetings & gatherings, while the new residents of the area’s condominiums have made Westcafe their staple. The menus paint a clearer picture of the cuisine chef Concannon prepares incorporating seasonal & local produce with Northwest products to convey a fresh & healthy dish. Stop in and unwind in the comfortable environment and enjoy reasonably priced meals and wine selections. Off street parking is available evenings & weekends, though street parking can still be found. Convenient to get to from all directions and nestled blocks away from The Portland Center for Performing Arts & Arlene Schnitzer Hall, downtown was overdue for a venue like this. As a former executive chef for the Portland Center for Performing Arts, Concannon fell in love with the area’s potential, especially given it hosts two Farmer’s Markets during the growing season. Having owned two restaurants for eleven years on the east coast with Mr. Smith, opening Westcafe was an easy decision to make.
