Established in 1908 as the second golf club chartered in Grand Rapids, The Highlands was redesigned in 1916 by Donald Ross, one of the world's foremost golf architects. The Highlands' timeless design epitomizes the Donald Ross philosophy that "a golf course should be subtly deceptive, rather than unduly penalizing...a true test for the skilled players, yet enjoyable for golfers of all abilities." There is no better example of this philosophy and the The Highlands. Rich in tradition, The Highlands hosted Senior PGA tournaments from 1986 to 1993. The event attracted such golf legends as Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Billy Casper, Chi-Chi Rodriguez and Lee Trevino. For the last three years, The Highlands has hosted an event featuring several active LPGA players. The Highlands welcomes all golfers to come and enjoy this wonderful golf course, the great service in the pro shop and the outstanding amenities in the club house and lounge.
