Beginnings Class with Nicole
$20.00
Sat, May 10, 10 am-11:30 am. Ready to graduate from scarves and dishcloths to more complex projects, but not quite sure how to begin? How important is it really to swatch? How do I pick a good substitution if I want to use a yarn other than the one recommended in the pattern? Want to expand your repertoire of cast-on methods and move beyond the long-tail? You've got lots of questions, and we've got lots of answers! Join us for a class on everything you need to know to begin a successful knitting project! Materials list: participants should bring a ball of scrap yarn and a pair of appropriately-sized needles to use for cast-on practice.
Endings Class with Nicole
$20.00
Sat, May 17, 10 am-11:30 am. Do you enjoy knitting, but get hung up on the finishing? This class is all about getting those projects off your needles and onto your body! We'll talk about weaving in ends and practice finishing techniques including 3-needle bind-off, kitchener stitch and mattress stitch. We will cover button holes and sewing in a zipper. We will practice different types of bind-offs and discuss different blocking techniques to make your project the best it can be! Materials list: participants should bring two identical swatches at least 4? square to use when practicing finishing techniques and bind-offs. Swatches should be brought in still 'on the needles' rather than bound-off. Bring needles that are the appropriate size for the swatches, and a yarn needle. Participants are also welcome to bring in projects that they are unsure how to block, or that have given them trouble with any finishing technique.
Dye your own Sock Yarn Class
$35.00
Sat, May 31, 10 am-12 pm. Using a crock-pot and food-safe dyes, learn how to dye wool yarn! Participants need to bring the following supplies: Rubber gloves (like dishwashing gloves), apron (or wear old clothing), one large Ziploc bag. Got an extra crock pot? Bring it along! All other materials provided including one skein of merino/nylon sock yarn, tools, dyes and chemicals needed to dye your yarn.
