Thai food is known to be chili hot, but well prepared traditional Thai dishes should not be predominantly so. Thai cuisine is a highly developed art form. There must always be harmony in a dish. The sharpness of the chilis and spices in a curry dish is toned down by the sweetness of the coconut cream which also enhances the flavors and tastes of other delicate ingredients and herbs.
Dinner, which is considered the main meal of the day, consists usually of at least 3 dishes served with rice. Since Thai culture is one of sharing, we recommend that the dishes be shared with others. It is customary to take portions from each dish in whatever order one prefers in order to experience the breadth of flavors of Thai cuisine!
