In a community where greasy food was ubiquitous, Mr. and Mrs. Tran (John's parents) wanted to give a healthier option to hungry consumers. Providing a healthy alternative along with freshness and quality was their aspiration. And so, in 1995 they established the San Francisco Bakery & Cafe.
Mr. and Mrs. Tran served sandwiches using fresh baked bread made from scratch by their son, Thuan - who spent an extensive amount of time in San Francisco mastering the art of baking. Thuan's brother, Phuong, shared the baking responsibilities by preparing pastries. Also served, were items like quiches and soups that were made with the touch of Mrs. Tran's homemade recipes. Providing quality food was their ultimate desire; everything had to be made using only the finest and freshest ingredients available.
The caliber of the Tran's food and service was apparent as their customer base grew throughout the years. When Mr. and Mrs. Tran felt it was time for them to retire in 2004, they appointed their employee and son, John (who understood the principles of the business at a young age), to manage the establishment. In that same year, Thuan decided to pursue other goals and passed all baking obligations over to Phuong.
