Services
Spending the day in Running Paws Athletic Club's All Day Play your dog will have a fun activity filled day. We interact with and care for your dog as if he or she was our own (in fact our dogs are in the same program!) We separate dogs based on a number of factors including temperament, disposition, and energy level, not simply size. Your dog will spend the day playing in our huge run, relaxing in our no-cage rest area, hit the treadmill or jog the East River (if you so decide).
A Day at the Club
In our care, your dog will play in our over-sized run while being supervised at all times. While attending All Day Play your dog can go for a jog along the East River if you choose to burn off any extra energy. Additionally, your dog can take advantage of our fast track training sessions or get groomed at the Sedona Dog Spa located conveniently within the club.
Doggie Teams
We've met a lot of small dogs with big-dog mentality and vice-versa, which is why we separate our dogs into "teams" based on their temperament and play-style, along with their size. With constant supervision, we make sure dogs are comfortable and secure within their group, big and small alike.
Hours
All Day Play is between 7:00am - 8:30pm Monday thru Friday and 8:30am - 6:30pm Saturday and Sunday. Dogs picked up after 8:30pm M-F and between 6:30pm on Saturday and Sunday will be charged a $10 extended play fee. Dogs that aren't picked up by 9:00pm M-F and 7:00pm on Saturday & Sunday will be required to spend the night at the club and will be billed accordingly.
Policies and Requirements
In order to keep all dogs, as well as our staff and resources, safe and healthy our guidelines must be strictly followed. Please carefully review our policies.
Social Cage Free Boarding
We provide supervised Cagefree Social Boarding. Dogs staying with us are comfortable in our large cage-free resting area. During the day they enjoy playing with our daycare guests all day long.
Feeding, Medication and Bedding
To maintain consistency while you're away, we ask you bring your dog's normal food (along with specific feeding instructions.) If your dog requires medication, topical or oral, our gentle handlers can administer prescriptions at no charge to you*. We don't permit personal items in the club, but we will provide beds for your dog's comfort.
Seperation Anxiety
We've found that outdoor fitness sessions can help release stress during overnight visits for many dogs that have severe seperation axiety. However, in some cases boarding isn't the best option, which is why we offer an in-home pet sitting option (based on availability).

Group Training Classes
Basic Obedience Class
Our Obedience Class uses Positive Reinforcement Techniques to help you develop the perfect relationship with your pup. This six-week class focuses on Look, Sit, Down, Stay, Leave it, Walking, Come. The Basic Obedience Class is also effective for adult dogs who may need a brush- up or may not have had the opportunity to learn these skills as a puppy.
Intermediate Obedience Class
The Intermediate Obedience course is designed for dogs who have basic training skills and is perfect for graduates of the Basic class. It concentrates on refining the basic skills and further challenges for the dogs. Class covers behaviors on cue at a distance with increasing distractions, instant recalls away from distractions, college level "leave its", advanced (and fun) impulse control exercises, a few impressive tricks, and more. A portion of the class is conducted off leash.
Advanced Obedience Class
Our Advanced Obedience Class uses Positive Reinforcement Techniques to help your dog take the commands learned in our Basic Obedience Class to the next level. This six-week class is a must for every city dog. Your dog will learn how to maintain focus even under high-stimuli conditions (noise, other dogs, people) and where object of high value are present (treats, toys, people). If your dog got off leash on the sidewalks of New York, what would your dog do?
Puppy Manners Seminars
Every Monday night from 7:30 - 8:30 pm - RSVP required prior to class. Our Puppy Manners Seminars are the perfect compliment to our Basic Obedience Class. Typical topics include how to stop jumping on people and furniture, leash manners, touch command, focus command, how to adjust to a crate or confinement area, teething strategies, how to get a puppy accustomed to grooming, etc. Your puppy's behavior begins to set-in at a very young age so the earlier you begin to reinforce Good Manners, the less stressful things will be for your Pup and for You. These Seminars are for puppies younger than six months of age so start early, come as often as you would like, and bring as many questions as you have for Q&A.
Specialty Classes - Agility & Tricks
Our specialty classes are designed to further the bond between you and your dog and provide continued mental stimulation. Our six-week Agility Class uses the foundation learned in our Basic Obedience Class so that you can help guide your dog through this exciting and fun Agility course. By the last week of class, you'll be surprised how fast your dog can complete the course. Compete with other Agility Class dogs to see who has the fastest course time and find out who brings home the Blue Ribbon. Our Tricks class will bring out your doggy's inner class clown - play dead, spin, roll-over. Find out all of your dog's hidden talents while challenging them mentally. Your dog will be begging for a Tricks II class.
Private Training
Puppy Paws In-Home Training
Puppies are a joy, but raising a puppy has its challenges. At Puppy Paws, we use our extensive knowledge of puppy development to help raise puppies between 8 weeks and 8 months old. Our program has been specifically tailored to assist in the socialization process throughout the puppy-hood life-cycle, including: Puppy Prep - puppy proofing, supplies prep, crate placement, socialization strategies; Housebreaking - wee wee pad training, crate training, curb training; Puppy Manners - focus & touch commands, jumping, teething, leash walking; Basic Obedience - look, touch, sit, down, stay, come commands; Shy Puppy - hand shyness techniques, adjusting to city noises.
Private In-Home Training
Our Private In-Home Training is perfect for dogs who may "act-out" when in a group setting, for Parents who may require a specialized training schedule, or for dogs that need to work on a focused set of issues. Our Private In-Home Training can be tailored to you and your dogs specific needs. Our Trainers can cover all of the skills taught in our Classes as well specialized needs such as housebreaking, dog walking, and more.
DayTrain In-Daycare Training
Our DayTrainTM Program provides shorter training modules taught right at our Athletic Club, while your dog is in daycare. These affordable sessions cover a range of topics, including manners and basic command reinforcement, leash walking brush-ups, fun games such as scent detection, agility play, learning special tricks, and shy dog training. DayTrainTM is a great way to improve your dog's mental fitness while in Daycare, Overnight Care, Grooming, or on the way home from a Dog Walk or Jog. Oh and our Trainers will send you a video of your dogs progress just as if you were there (but you don't have to be).
Socialization
Puppy Playtime
Every Tuesday Night from 7:30 - 8:30 pm. Socialization is critical to a puppy's development and to ward off undesirable behaviors down the road such as fear aggression, resource aggression, and separation anxiety. Our complimentary Puppy Play Group is designed to help you give your puppy their much needed socialization time in a controlled, safe environment. In our Puppy Playtime supervised play group, puppies are divided by size and we ensure that all puppies are current with their vaccinations. Come out and meet new friends while you watch in amazement as your Pup starts building their Puppy Play Skills. For puppies under 1 year of age.
Adult Socialization Groups
Small Dog Socialization Group - Every first and third Sunday from 2 - 3 pm; Large Dog Socialization Group - Every second and fourth Sunday from 2 - 3 pm. Adult dogs that do not stay socialized can gain weight and begin acting out due to boredom. Our Adult Socialization Groups provide a controlled, safe environment where your dog can meet new friends and have fun just being a dog. A perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
