Lelolai Bakery & Café opened its doors in March 2001 in Cleveland as a retail bakery specializing in Spanish desserts, pastries and other delicacies, including the "Flan." Its FOUNDER, Alma Sapia Alfonzo, began wholesale production of flan in 3oz servings in November 2001. In April 2002, Lelolai Bakery & Cafe received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Cleveland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In October 2002 Gourmet Magazine recognized Lelolai Bakery & Café as “one of the top 200 restaurants in the nation.”
