PJ's offers a diverse menu with multiple options with something for just about everyone. We use many local products including bolillos from Prince Valley, tortillas from Michoacan Totillas, bread from Avalon and homemade vegan biscuits. Everything is fresh, from our ranch dressing, to our pico de gallo, and remoulade sauces. Gluten free bread from Sugar Kisses Bakery may be substituted. Please ask when ordering.

PO'BOYS
In New Orleans and Louisiana the po' boy sandwich is everywhere. Originally it was a poor man's sandwich but, if you get some good bread and some tasty fillings all of a sudden that po' boy's sandwich starts tasting pretty good! Ours is served on a grilled bolillo roll that closely approximates the New Orleans French loaf. We lay down a bed of lettuce, put in the filling and put our own remoulade sauce on top. Welcome to PJ’s Lager House, a Corktown fixture since 1914 when it opened as a neighborhood bakery and restaurant.
It masqueraded as a furniture store during Prohibition (ask PJ to show you the secret password slot in the basement door), but emerged a beer garden the minute the 21st Amendment was passed repealing Prohibition. Prior to being renamed The Lager House in 1965, 1254 Michigan Ave. was known as the Doemer Beer Garden, Doemer Brothers Tavern, and The Doemer Tavern. The bakery/restaurant/bar served up great food and drink to city pols, Corktown neighbors, unionists, bookies, bettors and sports fans alike.
