Yoichi ( "Yogi" ) Ueno, owner, established Kubo’s in 2001 out of his love for fine food and to introduce Houston to traditional, healthy Japanese cuisine.While the restaurant’s name pays homage to its first chef, Hajimi Kubokowa, Yogi now has teamed with one of the country’s finest Japanese chefs, Executive Chef Kiyoka Ito, an extensively-trained professional in the fine art of creating traditional Japanese cuisine. Born in Japan, Chef Ito started his training in Kyoto where he went through the meticulous and intense training that advanced him to the upper ranks in the artistic culinary world of Japanese cooking, especially in the highly intricate skills of preparing Kaiseki. He is now bringing to Kubo’s his sumptuous and creative Japanese cuisine prepared using traditional methods and ingredients.
