There is no secret that "High Intensity Interval Training" (intense work, followed by periods of rest) delivers the best Fat Loss results compared to other forms of cardiovascular training.

Small Group Coaching Membership
With our Small Group Coaching Membership, you will follow a training program for 4 weeks, with the program changing every 4 weeks.
From the warm up to the finisher it's all planned out ahead of time and you know EXACTLY what you will be doing, what you did last time and what you have to do to be better then you were! This is all about learning how to use free weights in all their various forms. Classes are capped at 6 people per class, so there is always a low coach to member ratio.
There is no other gym that provides the level of coaching and education
we provide with free weights (Ben, the head of our program design team routinely travels to other gyms in New England to give barbell/free weight seminars), kettlebells (we have the ONLY certified KB coaches in the Upper Valley, three to be exact!), dumbbells and all sorts of other fun toys.

Class Descriptions
We will spend a few minutes before you start making sure you understand the work out, then we turn you loose! The work outs will usually be against the clock. These work outs are great to bring out the competitor in you if you want you can post how you did and compete against other members!
Boot Camp
Our KNOWLEDGE DRIVEN boot camp is a high energy, fast paced, full body work-out incorporating kettlebells, dumbbells, body weight exercises and suspension trainers in a circuit format designed to shock your system and ignite your metabolism. Each class will present a new challenge and unique combination of exercises that will keep your body guessing and motivation peaked. If RESULTS are what you're after, this is the boot camp for you!
H.I.R.T. (High Intensity Resistance Training)
Similar to High Intensity Interval Training, except with weights (your own body weight, barbells, kettle bells, dumbbells, etc.)! HIIT has been proven time and time again to burn more calories, build more lean body mass and torch more fat in less time then any other activity. The problem is that it's HIGHLY INTENSE (hence the name), usually done out side and generally requires a high level of physical ability to fully reap the benefits. BUT, recent studies have shown that H.I.R.T. provides even BETTER results in less time then H.I.I.T. And we can do it inside while fitting the work out to the individual. NO ONE coaches or teaches weight lifting better then us. And NO ONE can offer our level of safety, custom-ability and attention to form. This class will consist of various circuits, done at your own pace under our coach's watchful eyes.
Metabolic - Ignite your metabolic engine!
This KNOWLEDGE DRIVEN experience will torch calories, get your metabolism revving and give you the cardiovascular benefits you are looking for. In this high-intensity class we incorporate exercises in multiple planes of motion, using all kinds of equipment such as TRXs, kettlebells, ropes, sandbags, medicine balls and more into an interval format, geared to elicit RESULTS! This class is all about HEART RATE! We want your heart rate as high as possible, in the quickest amount of time, followed by a brief rest. The workouts will run approximately 20 minutes, with short bursts of work followed by brief bouts of rest. Burn baby, burn!
KB Basics
"The basics" are essential in everything! Once you have the basic knowledge of anything, there are endless possibilities with what you can accomplish. Kettlebell Basics will start you out at the very first step, just what a beginner needs and an expert needs to practice. The KB Basics Class is also great for anyone that wants to freshen up and really fine-tune his or her form. In Basics we will go over all the essential moves step by step to allow the greatest understanding of each technique. This class is what's going to prevent injuries while teaching you how to use kettlebells for the maximum calorie burn, all while building functional strength.
Total Body (small group training membership only)
If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen! This class involves customized, KNOWLEDGE DRIVEN programming designed to build strength, develop lean muscle and burn fat. Total Body is a small group-training program, no more than 6 people are allowed in the class. You will follow a training program for 4 weeks, with the program changing every 4 weeks. Kettlebell W.O.D. (work out of the day) and Challenge W.O.W. (work out of the week)
These work outs can be done at any of the time, however, we do ask that you let us know ahead of time via email so that we can make sure we have time to explain the work out to you. These are very simple, effective and fast workouts that you can easily do on your own at the gym, with no supervision. Both workouts change on a weekly basis with the challenge work out repeating every 4 weeks for 3 months, and then new challenge workouts are created and cycled every 4 weeks for 3 months.

It seems so new, yet this type of fitness has been around for over 150 years. How do we explain it? Many people strength train with weights while others do cardio or aerobics - somewhere between is our group coaching, the new concept offered at KDR Fitness. Get the benefits of both. This new concept is set-up in group class with certified instructors using tools including kettlebells, sand bags, ropes, medicine balls, TRX's and other fun, different equipment.

Post-Rehabiliation
If you can't move better, you won't feel better and you won't be better. That is where we come in.
Even though we are known for our weight loss results, we also receive many referrals from physical therapists, doctors and chiropractors for our rehabilitation success.
We do not offer physical therapy services. Our services are for the individual that needs/wants to go past where physical therapy ended or for the individual that is not sure if they need to go see a Physical Therapist.
Almost every single person that we work with has a nagging injury or issue that doesn't resolve on its own. We have all been there.
The soccer mom that wants to lose 30 lbs, but her knee hurts from an ACL tear she had in high school.
That 30 lbs would be much easier to lose if she didn't have the constant ache and pain associated with that past injury. The grandmother that wants to hold her grandkids but can't because of an old shoulder injury. The high school basketball player that wants to end his senior year with a championship season, but just can't seem to get over a high ankle sprain he experienced his freshman year. We call our program "Return to Play/Work" (RTP/W) because we are not physical therapists, nor do we play them on TV.

Our RTP/W members will typically come to us after going to Physical Therapy or being referred to us by a local therapist (whether Chiropractic, Massage or Other).

Body Blueprint and Funtional Movement Screen
Before we take you through a workout
we first want to take the time to find out what you specifically need by performing your Knowledge Driven Results Body Blue Print. This blue print helps us develop the very specific plans that we will use to design the program to get you to your individual goals. Every single person who works out at KDR Fitness has a Blue Print designed for them.
During your KDR Fitness Body Blue Print we will learn about your health history, any past injuries, your training history along with your specific goals.
We look at static and dynamic posture, foot and gait mechanics as well as making sure we have a very good understanding of any past or current musculoskeletal issues or injuries. We will also take you through a range of motion and flexibility evaluation and the base of our blue print The Functional Movement Screen. During The Functional Movement Screen we will have you perform basic movements and we will find out exactly where your program should start and what it should include to get you started right.
For example
we will learn about any imbalances you may have that could eventually cause an injury. This screening is scored from a 1-21. 21 being the best you can get. You will get a score that will be incorporated into your blue print and your coach will guide you on what the next best step is for you. If you score above a 12 we are comfortable with you joining our group coaching membership right away. Our group coaching classes are written as a general program so before you join them we want to make sure you are ready for them. If you score under a 12 we would want to spend a few weeks making sure you are ready for the group coaching classes by performing a program written specifically for you to get you ready for the classes. This program will include correcting any imbalances you have and will be done in a semi-private setting.

As part of our membership, we will also give you one of our KDR Fitness nutrition journals complete with simple guidelines of exactly what you should eat to reach your goals. Follow the plan laid out for you, fill out the journal and bring it in to your coach and you will not fail!
Applied Functional Science
AFS is unique in that it truly takes a three dimensional approach to training, incorporating movement in all three planes of motion front to back, side to side and rotation. AFS bred the term "functional training", although in it's current watered down state it is tough to discern what functional training really is. Functional Training is looking at the body as a unit (the ankle bone's connected to the shin bone, the shin bone's connected to the knee bone, the knee bone's connected to the thigh bone, etc.), working that unit through all of the appropriate and available directions of movement and ensuring that the movements people do have a strong carry over to their every day tasks, needs and goals.

Why online coaching?
We have worked with hundreds of people to bring them long lasting weight loss success. With our online coaching program we can now offer the same expertise normally reserved for our in-person members. Our members come to KDR Fitness for our experience, knowledge and results. Simply put, they come to us for our individualized programs, coaching and guidance. At least half of what we do is provide hard-hitting answers and insight into "how do I get my body and self from where I am now to where I want to be." Online Coaching allows someone at a distant to take advantage of everything we normally offer our on-site members, except at a distance. We have two programs available; fitness coaching and nutrition coaching.
Fitness Coaching
Online Fitness Coaching is for the person that wants guidance, instruction and accountability with out paying for one-on-one training. With our Online Fitness Coaching program our program developer will provide you with a new science based, cutting edge, results focused program every 4-6 weeks. This program is based off of a combination of a phone call evaluation as well as an online evaluation and postural assessment. Our Program Developer will then take that information and combined with the results you want and write the absolute best and most complete program to get you the results you want.
Nutrition Coaching
Online Nutrition Coaching is for the person that has an exercise program but is missing the nutrition component. Or, whether the program that they have is for weight loss or muscle building, the right program with out the right diet is worthless. You can't out train a bad diet. Our nutrition-coaching program blends science with practicality into one easy to follow system. We do not use fads or anecdotal evidence in our system. With our nutrition-coaching program you are required to keep a food journal. After all, how can we help you if we don't know what you are currently doing? Why don't we just give you a diet to follow? We could but as the saying goes, "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink." Our program is all about educating our members and being realistic with goals we set for them. If you are eating big macs for lunch every day and all of a sudden we tell you no more big macs and only chicken and broccoli, that isn't going to be a very realistic change.

Are you ready for something different?
Leave it to KDR Fitness to be on the cutting edge and bring the hottest fitness craze in North America to the Upper Valley. KDR Fitness is excited to announce our new Group Coaching Classes. It seems so new, yet this type of fitness has been around for over 150 years. How do we explain it? Many people strength train with weights while others do cardio or aerobics - somewhere between is our group coaching, the new concept offered at KDR Fitness. Get the benefits of both. Your body will get stronger, your cardiovascular fitness will improve and you will burn calories and watch your body change.
This new concept is set-up in group class with certified instructors using tools
including kettlebells, sand bags, ropes, medicine balls, TRX's and other fun, different equipment. This type of training is a great way to shake things up and give you a full body workout, burn a ton of calories, and get your metabolism going. A kettlebell is basically a weight with a handle on it that can be used for numerous exercises you don't typically see in a gym. It may seem intimidating at first and I highly recommend that you have a certified instructor teach you how to work out using them. There is some skill involved, but anybody can learn and we can teach you at KDR Fitness. There is absolutely no way to describe this workout without inviting you to try it.

Who's up for a Challange?!
Even though we are known for weight loss results, we encourage our members to concentrate on something that relates to performance.
Put simply, weight loss is a tough goal to chase year round. Lost 5 lbs in a week and then don't lose anything for 2 weeks can sometimes discourage people. That is why we routinely offer competitions and challenges to our members.
The purpose isn't to set world records (although we have had a number of current and past world record holders in Powerlifting)
but rather to challenge what our members think they are capable off. Doing a 10 mile obstacle race puts prepping your meals, or pushing the dessert away from you, into a totally new perspective.
It also gives us a chance to offer a special membership specifically for these challenges/competitions.
This membership is for those people that have no special injuries/concerns and must score a minimum of a "12" during their KDR Body Blueprint.

The challenge membership starts March 1st and ends September 30th.

That is fine, you can sign up for the membership up to June 1st, but after June 1st the membership will no longer be available.
Were serious about these challenges and 4 months is the minimum amount of time we will train someone for to complete one of these races/challenges.

A message from Ben Dearman, KDR Fitness owner and program designer
"I did the tough mudder last year because I didn't want to do it. It doesn't make much sense until you think about what we do as a profession, we encourage and get people to do things they don't want to do. Lots of veggies. Check. Step outside of your box and challenge your self for a change! Question what you think your capable of and set new limits for your self. There is a Japanese philosophy of continous improvement in all aspects of life, financial, physical, health, intellectual and spiritual. Everyone works on improving their financial situation, but when was the last time you really challenged your self and improved your self physically or mentally? Do these events and you will have a new appreciation of what your capable off! I spent an entire year training our country's finest Special Operations soldiers; Army Rangers (75th Regiment and 3rd battalion) and Navy SEALS (various teams) as well as UFC Fighters. Over the past 8 years I have helped various marathon runners and triathletes succed in their goals as well. If my team and I can't get you ready to finish one of these races injury free with a smile on your face at the end... Then you're screwed!"
