Basil Hayden, Jim Beam Distillery; Clermont, Kentucky- 80 proof
Basil Hayden is named after one of the forefathers of Kentucky Bourbon. Basil Hayden was originally from St. Mary's County, MD but decided to move his family to the western side of Virginia (modern day Kentucky) in order to be a little further away from tax collectors. This delicate, high rye bourbon was made to honor this great bourbon master distiller. It is easily enjoyed on its own, in classic highballs or fresh ingredient cocktails. Color: Dark honey; Nose: Spice, herbaceous, tea; Taste: Spicey, honey, light bodied with a gentle bite; Finish: Dry, clean, brief finish
Belle Meade Bourbon, Nelson's Green Briar Distillery; Nashville, Tennessee- 90.4 Proof
Originally produced by Charles Nelson in conjunction with Sperry, Wade & Co., Belle Meade™ Bourbon is a brand that dates back to the American pre-prohibition era. Known for its bold character and smooth finish, Charles Nelson bottled and sold Belle Meade™ Bourbon in his day and we, his great-great-great grandsons, are doing the same today. Color: Dark Amber; Nose: Maple syrup and caramel with floral fragrances and a citrus zest; Taste: Caramel and vanilla with bold rye spice and hints of apricot; Finish: Long, smooth finish
Baker's Bourbon, Jim Beam Distillery; Clermont, Kentucky- 107 proof
Baker's Bourbon is named after Baker Beam, Booker's cousin and master distiller at Jim Beam Distillery for over thirty years. Baker's Bourbon is aged higher in the rack house (large timber frame buildings we age our bourbon in) where it can get as hot as 120-130 degrees in the heart of the summer season. This high heat draws the bourbon deep into the barrel wood. After aging in the rack house for 7 years Baker's Bourbon has collected a magnitude of complex flavors. This is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks. Color: Warm amber, tawny, nut brown; Nose: Vanilla, caramel, and hint of fruit; Taste: Toasted nuts, touch of vanilla, with silky texture; Finish: Sweet and medium finish
Johnnie Walker Scotch Flight Menu
$48
Johnnie Walker Black Label, Johnnie Walker, Scotland- 80 proof
As many as 40 whiskies, each aged 12 years or more, make up this satisfyingly complex blend. Decade after decade, Black Label wins awards and accolades. Experts consistently appreciate its understated, classic qualities. Color: Dark gold; Nose: Fresh grains and wood chips; Taste: Mild spice, sweet barley and campfire; Finish: Long with hints of toasted almonds
Johnnie Walker® Platinum Label® is rich and refined, a contemporary and complex blend of single malt and grain whiskies matured for a minimum of 18 years. Drawn from a limited number of casks, carefully chosen and retained throughout their maturation because of their exceptional character, Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is a skillful blend of style and substance artfully crafted by Master Blender Jim Beveridge. Color: Gold; Nose: Vanilla with cracked black pepper; Taste: On the palate, it is rounded off by baking spices and a refreshing dried cherry; Finish: Tropical fruits linger
Blended to break the rules, Double Black boasts an edgy confidence in flavor that separates it from its balanced relative, Johnnie Walker Black Label. It is not simply a darker version of Black Label, for it cannot be defined by color alone. Color: Deep dark gold; Nose: Smokey with hints of dried peach; Taste: rich and delicately honeyed with white pepper, campfire smoke and just the slightest hint of tropical fruit; Finish: Smooth elegant finish
Johnnie Walker Blue Label is our rarest blend. Created from the rarest and most expensive whiskies in the world, Blue Label has the authentic character and flavour of a traditional nineteenth century blend, just like those that John Walker and his son Alexander developed for their most valued customers. Color: Gold; Nose: Floral aromatics of honeysuckle, elderflower and wild clover lead into deeper notes of biscuits and brown sugar; Taste: Rich, toasty and honeyed in the mouth with rolled oats, creme brulee and toasted nutmeg shining through; Finish: Smokey and long
Maker's Mark Bourbon Flight Menu
$18
Maker's Mark, Maker's Mark Distillery, Kentucky- 90 proof
Bill Samuels created Maker's Mark based on experience from 5 generations of bourbon distillers in his family. In order to create something new he had to be rid of the old and so he burned his family's secret bourbon recipe, which created mediocre bourbon at best, and set out to make something outstanding. He replaced rye with soft red winter wheat so that his bourbon would be sweet and most of the taste would be towards the front of the palette. Maker's Mark would be cooked cooler and slower to all modern bourbons. Each label on every bottle is hand cut and every bottle is hand dipped in our signature red wax. This bourbon is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks, in a Manhattan, or in a Mint Julep. Color: Golden amber; Nose: Vanillas, spice, and hints of roses; Taste: Caramels and vanillas, fruit spice; Finish: Light and smooth
Maker's 46, Maker's Mark Distillery, Kentucky- 94 proof
Bill Samuels Jr. wanted to leave his mark on the family bourbon and on the 46th try he got it right (thus Maker's 46). We take fully aged Maker's Mark, which is ready at between 5-7 years old, and add 10 seared French Oak staves to the barrel for 7-9 weeks starting in November. A seared stave is essentially a 3 foot long, very thin plank of French Oak that has been crisped in a hot oven. The searing process releases sugars and oils into the fully matured Maker's Mark adding delicious new flavor notes. Maker's 46 is a sipping bourbon. Take your glass and relax in a big leather chair and enjoy this bourbon's unique flavors. Color: Dark amber; Nose: Warm toasty oak, butterscotch and caramel; Taste: Silky vanilla and caramels give way to hints of cinnamon towards the back of the pallet; Finish: Smooth with lasting hints of vanilla
Maker's Cask Strength Maker's Mark Distillery, Kentucky
Maker's Cask Strength was made in response to bartenders wanting a higher proof wheated bourbon option. Robert Samuels listened and had released a very limited supply of Maker's Cask Strength into the market. Only 10 bars in Maryland have received this bourbon and you're lucky enough to be sitting in one of these great establishments. This is exMaker's Cask Strength, Maker's Mark Distillery, Kentucky- 94 prooftremely rare so drink this bourbon slow and appreciate all the flavors. Color: Deep dark copper; Nose: Vanilla, butterscotch, roasted nuts; Taste: Full bodied, starts with sweet vanillas and caramels leading into roasted chestnuts. The sides of the tongue taste aMaker's Cask Strength, Maker's Mark Distillery, Kentucky- 94 proof slight sour that adds further complexity; Finish: Long, warm, and smooth with hints of vanilla lingering
Templeton Rye was a legally available pre-prohibition whiskey. Templeton Rye wanted to match the recipe of Alphonse Kerkhoff – Keith Kerkhoff's grandfather – as closely as possible. Unfortunately, they found out that we could not match the recipe exactly and still call it Templeton Rye because it would not fit within the federally regulated definition for rye whiskey. Since they couldn't imagine Templeton Rye not being called a rye, they decided to look around the country for a high-quality rye that tasted like Alphonse Kerkhoff's whiskey. Templeton Rye found a high quality rye from Lawrenceburg Distillers of Indiana (now owned by MGP) and sent samples of that rye – along with a bottle produced from Grandpa Kerkhoff's original recipe – to independent third-party experts at Clarendon Engineering in Louisville, Kentucky. These experts formulated the rye recipe, within federal guidelines, to match the taste of the original Prohibition era Kerkhoff recipe. Color: Dark amber; Nose: Dry, grassy, Christmas Spice; Taste: Hints of caramel, toffee and all spice; Finish: Balanced, clean and silky smooth
(rî)1, Jim Beam Distillery, Kentucky- 92 proof
(rî)1® is a blend of several different ages (minimum 4.5 years) to create a uniquely smooth and sophisticated flavor. The deliberate blending of several different ages creates a higher proof; spicy, yet lighter rye taste; and long, luxurious finish that declares (rî)1® as the definition to which other rye whiskies should aspire. (rî)1® provides the cocktail crowd with a spicy, flavorful addition to their current drink portfolio. Rye whiskey is both approachable in its taste, and distinct in its profile due to its luxurious and striking finishes. We have created a modern spirit that allows drinkers to rediscover some of their favorite cocktails. Color: Golden amber; Nose: Vanilla and hints of spice; Taste: Light and spicy flavor; Finish: Luxurious and soft
Bulleit Rye, MGP Distillery, Indiana- 90 proof
Bulleit Rye is an award-winning, small batch, straight rye whiskey with a character of unparalleled spice and complexity. Released in 2011, it continues to enjoy recognition as one of the highest quality ryes available. Color: Russet; Nose: Rich oak; Taste: Smooth with hints of vanilla, honey and spice; Finish: Clean with lingering flavors
Knob Creek Rye, Jim Beam Distillery, Kentucky- 100 proof
Knob Creek Rye is a blend of 6,8, and 9 year old Knob Creek Ryes that gives this rye a bold, uncompromising flavor. The 6 year old provides the spice rye lovers know and love while the 8 and 9 year old ryes give Knob Creek Rye a smooth finish. Knob Creek Rye was voted "Best Rye and Double Gold" its first year released in 2012 by the prestigious San Francisco Spirits Competition. This rye is bottled at 100 proof so it is highly mixable and adds depth to your favorite rye cocktail. This distinct rye is best enjoyed neat/rocks, in a pre-prohibition style Manhattan, or in a Sazerac. Color: Shades of gold to light amber; Nose: Notes of herbs and rye with nuances of oak; Taste: Bold rye spiciness with undertones of vanilla and oak; Finish: Warm and smooth with spice
In making Laphroaig, malted barley is dried over a peat fire. The smoke from this peat, found only on Islay, gives Laphroaig its particularly rich flavour. Those enjoying the 10 Year Old will first notice the bold, smoky taste, followed by a hint of seaweed and a surprising sweetness. This full-bodied variant is the foundation of all Laphroaig expressions and comes with a long finish. Color: Full sparkling gold; Nose: Huge smoke, seaweedy, "medicinal", with a hint of sweetness; Taste: Full bodied and uprising sweetness with hints of salt and layers of peatiness; Finish: Long and lingering
This expression is matured in a mixture of cask types, including American and European Oak. Maturation in American oak imparts vanilla notes and gives the whisky its distinct smoothness. The mineral rich water from Josie's Well ensures the best possible results during mashing and fermenting to form the flavours that define this expression. Color: Bright and lively gold; Nose: Fruity, summer-like fragrances; Taste: Well-balanced and fruity with strong pineapple notes; Finish: Creamy and smooth with marzipan and fresh hazelnuts
Carefully matured in the finest American bourbon and Spanish sherry oak casks for at least 12 years. Married and mellowed in oak marrying tuns for complete harmony of aroma and flavor. A single malt Scotch whisky with distinctive fresh pear, creamy with subtle oak flavors and a long smooth and mellow finish. The world's most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, this is the Glenfiddich family's signature expression. Color: Golden; Nose: Fresh and fruity with hints of pear; Taste: Sweet and fruity that develops into butterscotch, cream and malt; Finish: Long, smooth, and mellow
While not as overtly peat-heavy as an Islay malt, Talisker's peat provides a background of earthiness that matches its rocky flavors. Color: Brilliant gold; Nose: Peat with seaweed saltiness; Taste: Rich dried fruit with clouds of smoked accented by strong barley flavor; Finish: Long and Peppery
