About Us
Demo's Greek Food was started in 1979 by Demosthenes Demetrius Karagas, known as Demo. Demo was only 19 years old when he started the original location on Blanco Rd. His mother Lucille Karagas was involved in the opening and the developing of the restaurant. Lucille is 1st generation of Greek descent, her mother Victoria Eugenides was known for her excellent cooking and baking in the small town of Brussa. Yia yia Eugenides receipes continue to delight our guests today. Lucille still works at the Blanco Location. Demo's sister Victoria (Vickie) Karagas, named after her Grandmother, got involved in the family business in 1982. In 1987, Vickie purchased the restaurant and the concept from her brother Demo. Demo pursued a new career in Aviation. In 1996 Vickie opened a second location on N. St. Mary's St. It is still operating successfully today, and is run by Vickie's partner Mary Zimzores. In 2006 Vickie opened a third location at 1604 & Blanco Rd. in The Vineyard Shopping Center. Vickie continues to expand Demo's Greek Food herself. Demo's has kept their guests delighted for over two decades. Demo's continues to care about consistently good authentic food, we pride ourselves in using the finest and freshest quality ingredients, genuine hospitality, in a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with Greek music and dancing. Demo's is the first successful Greek Restaurant to open in San Antonio back in 1979. We would like to thank San Antonio for all their support for all these years.
