Massage Therapy can be used to offer relief for a variety of issues.
Are you stuck with an ache or pain that will just not go away? Maybe it does lessen for a while, but then comes back for seemingly no reason at all. Have you been told that you suffer from Fibromyalgia or an Auto Immune Disorder? Massage can be an effective treatment for these too.
In our experience, there is no 'one size fits all' answer in massage therapy.
It pays to find a therapist who is able to customize their pressure, techniques and approach to each client. Communication is key - before the session in setting goals and expectations, during the session to confirm pressure and depth and finally after for things that you can do to improve your experience.
Sometimes the cause of a pain or its effect lies in an emotional or psychological issue.
In those instances, Rob has had a great deal of experience in helping people recognize and address these deeper issues. With clear expectations we will work together to treat the whole person.
We have also worked with a number of hypersensitive clients and understand their unique needs.
What Is An Essential Oil?
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants.
They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. If you have ever enjoyed the gift of a rose, a walk by a field of lavender, or the smell of fresh cut mint, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and play a role in plant pollination.
Essential oils are non water-based phytochemicals made up of volatile organic compounds.
Although they are fat soluble, they do not include fatty lipids or acids found in vegetable and animal oils. Essential oils are very clean, almost crisp, to the touch and are immediately absorbed by the skin. Pure, unadulterated essential oils are translucent and range in color from crystal clear to deep blue.
Try this at home: Squeeze the peel of a ripe orange.
The fragrant residue on your hand is full of essential oils.
In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people.
Essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Modern scientific study and trends towards more holistic approaches to wellness are driving a revival and new discovery of essential oil health applications.

Counseling
There may be times when you experience a pain or issue that goes beyond the physical.
The roots of that issue may lie in your psyche - your beliefs, attitudes, assumptions and experiences and how they have shaped you. When this is the case, the ache or pain will remain until the underlying issue is addressed. Counseling offers the opportunity to explore these deeper levels. With clear expectations and scope we will work together to recognize and understand these underlying issues. Emotional energy centers in the body, as charted by Louise Hay, offer valuable clues when we use this approach.
Or there are times when the pain and frustration of a chronic, unresolved issue is a heavy burden.
Counseling offers an opportunity to air these emotions. Rob is a registered psychotherapist with the State of Colorado. His style of therapy is multi-disciplined.
Additionally he holds ordained standing in the United Church of Christ.
With over 25 years of experience in working with people as a mentor and pastoral guide, he is well suited to address the complex dynamics within you. He is comfortable in working with most religious and spiritual beliefs. The focus of this counseling is to help you clarify your foundational beliefs.

Full Spectrum Infrared Sauna
I first became aware of the benefits of infrared sauna when I saw the effect it had on patient pain levels.
Just what is infrared? For those of us who need a refresher, Infrared light is the natural radiant heat emitted by the sun. It is the part of the light spectrum just beyond the red side of visible light. That is the underside of the rainbow! No longer used just in alternative medicine, infrared is 100% safe and even used to warm babies in hospital nurseries. Infrared saunas gently heat the body from within instead of heating the air.
I started using an infrared sauna because I saw it as a great combination with massage.
Those Scandinavians were on to something coming up with both saunas and massage! In combination, the results have been impressive. The infrared penetrates deeply beneath the skin either before by warming the area for a deeper, easier massage or after by flushing the toxins and cellular debris out of the body. Additionally there is a sense of true relaxation and body detox that really needs to be experienced to be believed.
But there is much more to our infrared sauna.
We use the mPulse Series sauna from Sunlighten. The main reason we selected this particular sauna is that it is the first infrared sauna to utilize customizable full spectrum infrared heaters, which make use of the different infrared wavelengths to produce superior therapeutic results.
For instance, near infrared light (the wavelengths closest to visible light) is best for chronic pain management and skin purification.
Mid-infrared light is best to assist in weight loss and improved circulation. And far infrared reduces blood pressure and is whole-body detoxifying.
Detoxification is such an important need today, given the amounts of toxins we take in throughout our life.
We chose this sauna because the rate at which detoxification happens is greater from conventional saunas. In a Sunlighten infrared sauna, detoxification is 7 to 10 times greater than a conventional sauna. Now when I grew up, I was taught that it was polite to say, "Horses sweat, men perspire and women glow." Regardless of the word, in a conventional sauna the average person sweats only 3 percent toxins and 97 percent water (sorry, no horses allowed). Because a Sunlighten infrared sauna operates effectively at temperatures 60 to 80 degrees lower than conventional saunas; the average person sweats out 20 percent toxins and 80 percent water.

But wait, there is more, much more.
The experience of an infrared sauna is similar to sunbathing, which gives you the radiant heat that feels so nice!
Unlike sunbathing, infrared heat therapy is completely healthy and safe. You can relax in an infrared sauna and it will not cause your skin to burn.
Infrared light is part of the sun's invisible spectrum of light that has the ability to penetrate the human tissue.
Infrared heat therapy uses these infrared light characteristics to heat the body directly rather than just the air.
Conventional hot rock/steam heat saunas heat the air with steam, which can often be unbearably hot and will cause you to only sweat at the surface
Infrared saunas increase the body's core temperature thus resulting in a much deeper, more detoxifying sweat from the cellular level of the skin where many toxins are housed.
An infrared sauna uses soothing dry infrared heat that is well ventilated and extremely comfortable and relaxing.
Infrared heat therapy has also been shown to assist with weight loss, pain relief, improved circulation and skin rejuvenation.
Far Infrared Therapy Health Benefits
Pain Relief
Relieve back, neck and arthritis pan with infrared sauna heat therapy. Using continuous low level heat therapy for treating low back and upper body pain has never been more effective. Add a massage session to the sauna and notice deeper pain relief than you have felt previously, with results lasting longer and the need for repeated treatments diminishing.
Weight Loss
A 30 minute infrared sauna session can burn up to 200-600 calories! As the body works to cool itself while using an infrared sauna, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate. Sunlighten's infrared heat therapy raises core body temperature causing passive cardiovascular conditioning. Your body's natural response to infrared heat therapy is to increase circulation and sweat. You will be amazed!
Lowers Blood Pressure
Sunlighten's Solocarbon, heaters were used in a clinical study with the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 2005 and were shown to lower blood pressure from a 30 minute sauna session three times a week. Repeated infrared treatment improves impaired blood vessel functions in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. This suggests a preventative role for sauna use for arteriosclerosis.
Improves Circulation
Heating of muscles with infrared produces an increased blood flow level similar to that seen during exercise. Body temperature elevation also produces an increase in blood flow. Infrared heat assists in resolution of inflammatory conditions such as edema. The increased peripheral circulation provides the transport needed to help evacuate the edema, which can help end inflammation, decrease pain and help speed healing.
Skin Purification
Improve your skin's appearance with regular use of our sauna. Open wounds heal quicker with reduced scarring. Infrared heat therapy helps acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns and any skin lesions or cuts. It also reduces wrinkles, makes skin look radiant, firms and improves skin tone and elasticity. Regular use may also help reduce cellulite trapped beneath the skin, lesson the appearance of scars, and help burns heal significantly.
Sauna Contraindications
There are some real reasons not to sauna. Please make sure these do not apply to your condition before scheduling.
Medications
If you are using any medications, please check with your physician or pharmacist to make sure your condition is appropriate for Infrared Sauna Therapy.
Cardiovascular Conditions
If you have a cardiovascular condition, please check with your physician before scheduling a sauna.
Alcohol
Contrary to popular belief, you should not sweat out a hangover! The increased heart rate with the alcohol may be problematic. Check back when you are sober and we can schedule a sauna then!
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant, please check with your physician or midwife prior to scheduling a sauna.
Menstruation
Please be aware that heating your low back during your menses may increase your blood flow. It is safe, but please take the necessary precautions.
Pacemaker / Defibrillator
The magnets used to assemble the sauna can interrupt the pacing and inhibit the output of pacemakers. Please discuss this with your physician prior to making an appointment.
Smoking
We ask that current smokers not use the sauna. While a sauna would be a great aid in detoxifying the body when stopping smoking, active smokers release tobacco odors, nicotine and tar which will damage the wood of the sauna and may cause allergic reactions in other clients.
Why Detoxify?
Detox therapy is also useful for those suffering from immune system problems including chronic fatigue syndrome, environmental illness, chemical sensitivity, and fibromyalgia. It is estimated that 1 in 4 Americans suffer from some level of heavy metal poisoning or environmental toxin. With that in mind, detoxifying is a daily lifetime need. Detoxification can be helpful for people stuck in the following health challenges:
