at the relatively old age of ten, and was a professional dancer with New York City Ballet by seventeen. Her retirement came equally as quickly, though, due to a career-ending surgery to remedy a lifelong struggle with scoliosis.
Ballet remained an integral part of Andie's life
so she began teaching and soon found her passion shift to a desire to help women transform their bodies through dance and other forms of fitness. Soon certified as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor, she began working full-time in this field.
In 2008 Andie started perfecting her own style of training
integrating ballet, Pilates, and bits of traditional fitness training, and Ballet Bodies was born.

About Ballet Bodies
Created by former New York City Ballet dancer Andie Hecker
Ballet Bodies is a fitness studio that draws from and improves upon the basic fundamentals of Pilates, with an ultimate focus on achieving an aesthetic as long, lean and beautiful as a ballet dancer's.
Where classical Pilates falls short in garnering quick
dramatic and lasting results, Ballet Bodies succeeds by offering more intense, diverse and personalized workouts in a private or semi-private setting.
Whether performing exercises on the reformer
Cadillac, or other various fitness apparatus, each movement is to be executed with a dancer's form and line as inspiration.
Private Sessions
Private Reformer
A one-on-one Pilates/Fitness training workout that takes place mainly on a Pilates reformer, supplemented by work utilizing the Pilates Cadillac and ballet barre, as well as other more traditional fitness apparatus. Each session is customized for the individual.
Semi-Private Reformer
Similar to the Private Reformer class, the Semi-Private Reformer class offers customized programs for the individual, while sweating it out alongside a friend.
Private Ballet (all levels available)
For those who are serious about getting to where you want to be in your ballet career, or who just want everything broken down oneon- one before joining the group class, Private Ballet is always taught to the client's level by an experienced ballet dancer.
Group Classes
Basic Ballet
A current staple at Ballet Bodies, newly named but the same classic structure of ballet combinations that take place at the barre.
Ballet Burn
Our new cardio class combines ballet steps in a dance combination, followed by ballet jumps on the mini trampoline. This fun and innovative combination of ballet dancing and rebounding will get your heart rate up in order to burn calories & fat, and boost your cardiovascular health.
Ballet Sculpt
Newly named, formerly Mat Ballet, but still the same classic combination of mat Pilates, ballet, and classical training moves done on the floor, this class will tone and sculpt your body to reach that ideal ballet dancer aesthetic.
Ballet Stretch
Stretching and lengthening muscles through a combination of ballet and yoga movements, this class is a relaxing yet active way to elongate your physique while keeping the muscles and joints healthy and mobile.
Ballet Bodies is a fitness studio that draws from the basic fundamentals of Pilates, with an ultimate focus on achieving an aesthetic as long, lean and beautiful as a ballet dancer’s.
Officially founded by former New York City Ballet dancer, Andie Hecker, in 2008, Ballet Bodies was developed with the idea that physical fitness should be imparted by those who have learned to master the art of body awareness and aesthetic change. In other words: NOBODY DOES IT LIKE A BALLET DANCER.
